Ryukyu Kingdom produced a great number of lacquerware, some of which were presented as tributary gifts to Chinese emperors and Tokugawa shoguns and others were used in ceremonies and rituals. Here, we present a collection of lacquerware used in various ways, such as in rituals serving offerings to the gods, gifts that bridged the nations, and others.
