The Restored Garden of the Shoin Sasunoma

This garden is located in the south of the Shoin Sasunoma and is completely at one with the buildings around it. The characteristics of this garden are as follows:

  • Unique space arrangement and type: This garden consists of variously shaped exposed rocks, Ryukyu pine trees and intricately planted cycads, a rare form in the history of the Japanese garden.
  • A garden against the backdrop of a blue sky: A rare example among the gardens in Japan
  • A Garden with a creeping pine tree: A Chinese envoy described this garden in his report called " Ryukyukoku-shiryaku" as one where pine trees and cycads are intricately planted. A creeping pine tree is a short pine tree which spreads as if it is creeping over the ground.
